learning certification track, a business development track, and a

Current and incoming masters and doctoral students network with
university faculty and administrators during our two-day Graduate
Institute which includes seminars designed to nurture the development
of future faculty and researchers. AHETEMS, Inc. and The National GEM
Consortium partner with SHPE to provide the GRE/GRAD Lab, a two day
event that provides intense preparation training for students and
professionals interested in pursuing an advanced degree.

In partnership with AHETEMS, Inc., the SHPE Conference includes an
extensive pre-college program that exposes Hispanic youth to science,
technology, engineering, and math (STEM). Students from 7th to 12th
grade explore the many career opportunities in these STEM fields.
These students are the engineers and technical leaders of tomorrow.
High School Track: 300 non-local high school students will attend the
2.5-day program; an additional 400 local high school students from
Washington DC and surrounding areas will be invited to attend.the one
day program on Friday, October 30, 2009.
Middle School Track: 250 local middle school students from Washington
DC will be hosted during the day-long program on Friday, October 30,
2009.
